Fish species of the Eastern Tropical Pacific

If you fish from Baja to Perú here is the ultimate fish species reference. It originally was only available via the Smithsonian Institute for Tropical Research's book store located in Panamá. Now it's online in English and Spanish and it's free, check it out!

Pedasi Bottom Fishing

After a month of strong northerly winds it appeared we would have a brief reprieve so we headed off Playa Ciruelo to depart at daybreak figuring if the winds come up we would be back in as is normally the case this time of year at around 10 am. We began trolling cedar plugs with the aim of filling our freezers with Yellow Fin tuna however it seemed we were destined to be catching only Black Skip Jack (bonita, guanco). Being that these are of no good eating and only used for live bait or chunk ba… Continue

Wow! What a change but after going on 15 years sometimes the thought enters my mind also especially when I'm having a BLD. FIshing will be windy (30 knot range) that is if things are a normal January weather wise but as you know you can sneak out at day break from Ciruelo for a couple of hours. Supposedly I'm headed back to Piñas Bay for a week or maybe two in a couple of weeks then to Washington state for a engine room electronics diagnostic course. Finally, if all goes well off to Florida to get my shore launch ordered. BTW where is your Ocean Master back in CA or is it here?

That is correct my friend!.......I'm hook in fishing again, and loving it. As you know, when you learn to fish as a kid, is like learning to ride a bike, you'll never forget it....haha. Hope to see you soon in the next fishing trip.
Thank you for all the help you gave us during the trip to Piñas.
