Hi Clay,
If you're asking how the fishing is right now in the East Cape, here is a recent fish report as of April 18:
This year's fishing season has started off with a bang! Honestly, it could not be any better. There is plenty of bait in the water, which we all know attacks larger fish. We are seeing dorado, roosterfish, and striped marlin coming in on every boat. Captain Mario Banga of Gray Taxidermy reports - "The fishing from Los Barriles is excellent, Mucho, Mucho Dorado 30 Miles out of Los Relises Blancos and good Striped Marlin at Estiladeras, all the boats from Palmas De Cortez came back with 8 to 12 Dorado and one to two Striped Marlin Released."
We also heard from a guest at Hotel Punta Colorada that just returned and this is what they reported - "Ola Amigos, We're back from Mexico . Don't believe a word you've heard or read about fishing the Sea of Cortez . Its way better than anything they've said. The people, the accommodations and the fishing by far exceeded our expectations. We had exceptional fishing considering it's so early in the season. We made our captains proud by boating the first Wahoo of the year on the coast, and a big one at that, a very respectable Striped Marlin, several Rooster Fish, numerous Mahi-Mahi (Dorado)and 13 other assorted species, 17 different kinds of fish in all. There were several things occurring that were uncommon and amazed the even the regulars, lots of bait, lots of shore fishing, etc. It was an amazing trip. The sun was an added bonus, tried to get it to follow us home, but no luck."
