Hi Suzie, August is a great time of year for many sportfishing destinations around the world. Many pelagic species (translated: big roaming fish) are more accessible during the summer months. In this time of soaring fuel prices and devalued US dollar, many Mexican and Central American destinations can provide excellent sportfishing opportunities at affordable prices. I will be fishing in Madeira, Portugal this July and when I booked my flights I almost passed out when I saw how much prices were to Europe. I could get and entire week's worth of fish in Mexico for the price of a single flight to Europe. It really depends on what type of experience you are look for in your destination. Is your husband an avid fisherman or would you like to have more activity choices, nightlife, etc.?

The East Cape in Baja (I'm a little bias being a guide in this region)
