Just got back from Pedasi this last weekend. The fishing was great! I caught and released two amberjack 20-30lb range (smaller size but still fun), a blufin trevally and a couple small pargos in only two hours of fishing. I would say the fishing is good!

The marlin are definelty around the Pedasi area with allot of sailfish mixed in. I fished this past weekend and found the fishing solid. We landed a nice 50 pound Cubera Snapper, a few 20 to 30 pound amberjacks, numerous Dorado, and allot of Albacora. (Some type of Tuna, they are small but strong fish).

Back to the Marlin thing. While i was jigging the Frailles area, a huge 500 plus pound Marlin made a series of jumps for about 100 yards. It was awsome. We started trolling live bonito, but she wasnt around. We did loose a sailfish to a poor line connection, and another panga had caught a sail.

Jeff, I noticed a red tide inshore this weekend, is this normal this time of year? Where im from, its shuts down fishing, didnt seem to be the case this weekend. There is allot of really clean water offshore.

Ill have some pics up here in the next day or so.

Hello to Everyone, This week saw a continuation of large YFT and plenty of small to medium sized Dorado. The Freiles have been slow with no reports from Morro de Puercos. Pargo Grande has been where the action is along with Media Luna and the North end of Isla Iguana. In addition plenty of Humpback whales. Friday a front came in and made things a bit choppy with mild rain. Saturday was post card perfect as the saying goes clear skies, flat calm and lots of Dolphin hunting down the Tuna. Our best success came with Green Jacks for live bait

Fishing has slowed down, nothing out of the ordinary or to say in other words fishing is ordinary. Nothing to complain about nor rave about. This could be due to the fact the local panga captains have not been doing a lot of trips. Things slow down visitor wise this time of year so less trips, less to report. However, this is still the best time to visit Pedasí from May to December.

Until next week...Jeff

With no one out fishing it's makes the report a bit hard to do. I was at the beach as I am just about everyday and within the last three days minus the Isla Iguana excursions not one boat was out fishing. However, the weather has been perfect, sunny or slightly overcast with a slight breeze and little rain...Jeff

Another nothing to report week the town is dead, Even the busiest guide has only done one Isla Iguana site seeing trip. Therefore nothning to report but beautiful weather...Jeff

It's still the low period visitor wise until December thus very few trips are being made however, the few locals that went out this week have been getting YFT in the 50 pound range inshore along the coast between Playa Arenal and Punta Mala also just outside of Isla Iguana with an occasional Wahoo or Dorado. The YFT have been biting dead sardines or live Green Jacks.

Saludos...Jeff

Blame it on the fishermen, that is a that there were only about three trips done this past week so without many there is little to report. One private boat got some Dorado up to 25 pounds , one panga a 60 lb. Wahoo and the other panga a few small football size YFT. The down is dead as they say not even backpackers.

Until next week...Jeff

Hello to everyone,

As stated in my last couple of reports the town is dead that is no tourists, so not much to report fishing wise. However, there was a couple of trips done this past weekend. One boat had Wahoo off of Isla Iguana. While another fishing offshore due east landed a Black Marlin in the 400- 450 pound range. The fish are here just no anglers...Jeff

Why they call it the "Tuna Coast".

As in the past reports this month the town is dead no tourists so nothing to report and like wise not much to do. So Lucy and I headed off to Playa Arenal to where the local Panga fleet is located to hang out.

When we arrived the only other person there was a fisherman named Abidel who was giving his 40 horse Yamaha carburetor an overhaul. We talked for awhile and then spotted Frigate birds working no more than 100 feet off the shore and slowly heading south with YFT's jumping. It was a perfectly calm still sunny day. Yes, one more reason they call it the "Tuna Coast"

Oops I missed the official Monday deadline! This month and this week especially are full of national holidays here in Panama. The past week was tourist less as before with Tuna hugging the shore as I reported last week. With the influx of Panamanian tourists here for the holidays more fishing trips are going out. Most reports are scattered along with where the fish are hitting. Sierra, Wahoo, Tuna with Marlin strikes taking anglers by surprise especially when not targeting the species. As a result all reports are the same they broke the line and were gone. Rainy and cloudy skies the last four days with a steady breeze out of the south making panga fishing close in to the shoreline...Jeff
